Brailletec Light Box

Light Box is a tool specifically designed for training visually impaired children to learn to use their residual vision more efficiently. Light Box, in conjunction with Light Box materials, can stimulate awareness of light, colours and shapes. This assists in the instruction of a variety of visual functions, such as tracking, scanning visual patterns, eye-hand co-ordination, and visual discrimination. Light Box basically features a translucent white plexiglass work surface illuminated from below, providing an even, high-contrast background and high-luminance for offered materials to optimally meet perception conditions for visually impaired children. An electronic dimmer allows to adjust intensity of light. A step-by-step reduction of luminance may support the transfer of gained skills to situations in normal light conditions. Light Box may be either used as a flat work surface or positioned incline in four different levels. Built-in fastening bars will fix the work sheets in place even when being positioned incline. The high-durability cold, efficient and fluorescent light source is built into a 550 x 380 x 60 mm metalic box.

Training Material for Light Box
Used here are in particular materials by the American Printing House for the Blind. The materials are very children-friendly. We also offer training materials for three different training levels (levels I, II and III) similar to the American ones.

Level I
The training materials include brightly coloured, solid and patterned designed to stimulate awareness of light, patterns and objects. A variety of transparent coloured materials and opaque items that allow for practice in eye-hand co-ordination and matching.

Level I

Level II
Other than in Level I, where almost only abstract shapes are used, Level II already offers a wide range of more complex discrimination and identification tasks reflecting concrete materials from the environment of the child (ball, teddy, banana).

Level II

Level III
A variety of graphical materials using the individual movement of the source of illumination to attract visual attention of the impaired. Level III is based on the knowledge gained from levels I and II.
