The Elotype 4E is the latest development in the long row of Marburg braille writers. This new, fully electronic writer offers the comfort of a modern text processing system in an attractive and ergonomic design, featuring the new four-pin synchronous embossing head with unrivalled output quality. However, there is more to the Elotype 4E. In several years of development we created a system that completely changes the way you'll work in braille.
The ELOTYPE 4E is:
An electronic braille writer with an easy-to-use braille keyboard optimized by ergonomic engineers. All functions of a good typewriter are available; e.g. tabulator, margin release, variable line spacing, an Editor with a battery-backed memory which allows to store and edit documents. Passages of text can be deleted, inserted and overwritten. The text memory is organized in 25 pages with 30 lines each and 40 character per line. The machine can write six/eight-dot braille.
A braille input system for your PC. A sighted person can read simultaneously on a PC-screen what a braille user is typing on the braille keyboard of the connected ELOTYPE 4E.
A braille output system. Via the serial port the ELOTYPE 4E can be used as a personal braille printer on the PC. Both, single sheets and fanfold paper (with tractor) are applicable.
A braille communication network between:
a) Blind and sighted office workers:
A sighted person writes from a connected PC standard keyboard and the ELOTYPE 4E immediately embosses the text in braille. Due to the standard bi-directional ports, it is also possible to sent text from the braille keyboard of the ELOTYPE 4E directly in print characters to an ordinary printer (parallel port), a PC or a laptop via the serial port. b) Teacher and students:
The RS485 Interface allows to group several ELOTYPE 4E in a network. Like a black board for Braille every student in the compound can read what the teacher writes. This communication mode also allows to print text from the PC to all machines in the network simultaneously. It greatly simplifies working in a school or office environment
c) Deaf blind persons:
Text which is written on the "master"-machine is broadcast to all others.
Graphic
braille printer:
The ELOTYPE 4E has a new and real Braille-Graphics-Printout Capacity
with 2 mm dot spacing. Graphics can be made by the new Software
BrailleGraf 2.0. After converting the picture into a dot pattern the
graphic will be sent via serial cable to the ELOTYPE 4E.
